"The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them."

Membership, Voting and Sponsorhip

Membership in the Guild:

  • Membership is free
  • Membership is earned by attending and submitting written questions for two complete books or 8 meetings . . . whichever comes first.
  • Membership comes with a card enabling you prove your "card carrying" status to strangers . . . maybe even name tags to facilitate name calling.
  • Membership allows for the sponsoring of books for consideration.
  • Membership allows for the participation in the book selection votes.

Voting:

  • Queue ranking reorder voting, a group averaging of Netflix model? TBD

Sponsoring a book:

  • Sponsoring means you volunteer to lead the discussion and provide information required for the voting and syllabus process.
  • Each book submitted for consideration will need a brief (2-3 sentence) "description" communicating relevance and encouraging interest.
  • If a book is chosen, the sponsor will need to determine the how best to break up the book for proper group digestion.

Guidelines:

  1. 100-150 pages per week, sometimes more sometimes less.
  2. A book shouldn't take more than 4 weeks.
  3. Follow the natural flow of the book. Lump together natural things.
  4. To account for publishing differences, specify breaks at ends of chapters and not page numbers.
